Linear polydimethylsiloxane with hydroxyl end groups, an oily liquid. It has the characteristics of methyl silicone oil. Low-viscosity hydroxyl silicone oil is an excellent structural control agent in the processing of silicone rubber. It can replace diphenylsilanediol, simplify the process and improve the technological performance. It is also used as a waterproof, softening and anti-sticking treatment agent for fabrics, leather and paper.

Viscosity can range from very low to tens of thousands of pascals per second. The content of hydroxyl groups ranges from a few ten-thousandths to over ten percent. The viscosity of typical hydroxyl silicone oil is ≤40 millipascals per second (at 25℃), the refractive index is 1.4000 to 1.4100 (at 25℃), and the hydroxyl content is 4% to 5%.

The terminal hydroxyl group is reactive and can undergo condensation reactions with hydroxyl or alkoxy compounds under the catalytic action of organotin.
