Applications
Hydroxy silicone oil is widely used in silicone emulsions, textile/paper/leather treatments, silicone rubber structure control agents, and various polysiloxane intermediates.
1. Low Molecular Weight Hydroxy Silicone Oil
- Used for preparing block polymers and defoamers.
- Excellent structure control agent for silicone rubber: improves processability, extends shelf life, enhances transparency and mechanical properties.
- Used to produce cationic, anionic, non-ionic hydroxy silicone emulsions; combined with hydrogen-containing silicone oil, serves as high-performance treatment agent for textiles, leather and paper.
2. High Molecular Weight Hydroxy Silicone Oil
- Main base polymer for room-temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber.
- Provides excellent high/low temperature resistance, oxidation resistance and electrical insulation.
- Used in electronics, electrical appliances, cutting-edge defense tech and other industrial fields.
Application Fields
Silicone Rubber
Low molecular weight hydroxy silicone oil effectively inhibits structuring.
- Reacts with Si–OH groups on silica to make it hydrophobic.
- Improves silica dispersion, prevents structuring, reduces gel formation and compound viscosity.
- Optimizes hardness, permanent set and tensile strength of cured rubber.
Softener
Blended with hydrogen-containing silicone oil to form emulsions for textile finishing.
- Forms a durable silicone film on fibers at approx. 140℃.
- Provides soft, stiff handle and durable water repellency.
- Heat-set film is alkali-resistant and wash-resistant.
Concrete Admixture
Added to mixing water to improve frost resistance, dynamic elasticity, compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete.
Environmental Treatment
Used to make high-efficiency oil-absorbing materials for oil spill cleanup.
- Hydrophobizes fiber substrates to greatly reduce water absorption and boost oil absorption.
Heat-Shrinkable Materials
Improves compatibility between silicone rubber and other components in outdoor heat-shrinkable tube compounds.
- Increases tensile strength and elongation at break by more than 50%.
- Eliminates cracking during processing and meets performance requirements for radiation-crosslinked heat-shrinkable products.
